A Sterne Happening
Laurence’s relationship with Francis Giamatti developed on the day Francis, head of the Giamatti crime family, met Laurence after the school-kids attack on one of the Don’s goons. Sterne’s outright attack on the goon both intimidated and impressed Francis. Enough so that Francis realized the young man’s potential in the Family almost immediately. After several nights of deliberation on whether to punish the poor sod that interfered with his business or reward the kids bravado Francis was visited by a . The dark robed figure approached Francis when the Don was alone in his guarded, and locked, bedroom. Francis tried to call out for help in fending off the figure, though the visitor was able to supernaturally silence the kingpin with but a glance. When the kingpin charged forward to attack the figure he was equally left to its mercy after it revealed its face as, not only that of a lusty woman, but of one who’s magical stare brought the lumbering man to an open mouthed halt.
The pair spoke privatly long into the night and the early morning dawn before the figure outright disappeared into a cloud of sulfur charged mist. The meeting was never spoken of, nor explained, all that can be said is that Giamatti’s mind was made expressly clear after that evening – Laurence Sterne has been part of the family ever since.
